Frequently asked questions
Are MycoSkin lip balms gluten-free?
Yes, our lip balms are gluten-free!
What is Double and Triple Extraction?
The mycelium and fruitbody extracts used in our lip balms go through either Double or Triple Extraction Methods depending upon the blend:
Will the hemp lip balm get me high?
Haha, absolutely not! Despite the scientific name Cannabis sativa, hemp has a maximum level of 0.3% of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), making it impossible to feel any psychoactive effect or get "high." Compare that to medical cannabis, which can have up to 30% THC. Hemp also has a high cannabidiol (CBD) content that acts as THC’s antagonist, essentially making the possible minimal amount of THC useless.
Can you ship the lip balms with CBD?
Yes. We ship our CBD lip balms to all 50 states. The United States Farm Bill of 2014 (and the revised 2018 Farm Bill) classified industrial hemp as containing less than 0.3% THC. Because our lab tested products contain less than 0.3% THC, we are allowed by U.S. Federal law to conveniently ship to your doorstep.
What is CBD?
Cannabidiol (CBD) is a naturally-occurring constituent of industrial hemp (cannabis sativa) plants. It is the most abundant non-psychoactive cannabinoid found in cannabis and is being scientifically investigated for numerous reasons. Most people have heard of a cannabinoid called THC, which is the ingredient in cannabis that gets users high. Unlike THC, CBD (cannabidiol) is a non-psychoactive cannabinoid and does not cause a high.
What’s the difference between CBD from hemp and CBD from marijuana?
How do you know how much CBD is in your products?
Are their other cannabinoids in your CBD lip balm?
What is CO2 Extraction?
For essential oils (and hemp) that are not extracted via steam distillation, we use green extraction methods that utilize CO2, which leaves behind no toxins, heavy metals, or chemicals to degrade the product in any way. CO2 is safe to use in food products, is commonly found in carbonated beverages, and our bodies even produce CO2 when we breathe! We only source essential oils and CBD that has undergone Subcritical and Supercritical extractions. This allows us to perform a “fractional extraction” by first extracting at lower pressures to remove the lighter, temperature-sensitive volatile oils, and then subsequently extracting the same material at a higher pressure to remove the remaining oils. This approach is the best because it allows us to extract a complete range of cannabinoids, terpenes, essential oils, and other beneficial phytochemicals that yield a more potent blend.
